Neshanics new firehouse and modern apparatus furnish a good example of what community cooperation can do.
Faced with continued fire losses of no small proportions each year, the residents of that neighboring town banded together little more than a year ago and decided it was time to do something. A volunteer fire company was organized and a fund started toward the purchase of an engine.
There were some subscriptions, but the main money was raised through a long series of church suppers, fairs, parties and other social events -- every organization in the village cooperating in a common cause. The money rolled in rapidly and today Neshanic has a modern fire job and a house built and paid for.
Neshanic is to be congratulated upon its accomplishment. Other of the smaller towns without fire protection might well profit by its example.
